PRO X PRESCRIPTION

Great looking and performing sunglasses for golf are one thing – but what if you’re a prescription wearer? Standard sunglasses aren’t really up to the job, and clip-on’s are even worse.

Thanks to the Scratch Pro X Prescription sunglasses, spectacle wearers can now enjoy all the benefits and versatility of high-performance golf sunglasses. They offer 100% UVA / UVB protection, and conform to EN 1836 and US Z80.3 safety regulations.

THE FRAMES
Our prescription sunglasses for golf are built around a matt-black finished frame that has a prescription Rx clip housed in the back, whilst the tinted, interchangeable lenses sit on the front. This two-part arrangement allows for great versatility and performance, whilst the stand-alone frame looks great too! The wrap-around styling blocks unwanted wind and light encroaching from the sides and bottom of your vision.

The frames are lightweight and tough, whilst the Rx clip, made from the almost indestructible TR90 material, ensures maximum protection for your eyes from impact.

The tinted lenses clip onto the top of the frames, allowing them to be flipped up for momentary ‘normal’ vision when required.

DE-CENTRED AND ANTI-SCRATCH COATED LENSES
Wrap-around sunglasses offer great benefits when it comes to blocking unwanted light and wind from the sides of your vision, but placing a curved lens in front of your eyes would normally cause distortion. However, all Scratch lens sets are de-centred, which means they are calibrated to remove the distorting effect.

Golf Sunglasses
As with all Scratch golf sunglasses, the Pro X Prescription golf sunglasses come supplied as standard with the following:

  • Category 1 (yellow) lenses. These remarkable lenses actually enhance light, making them perfect for use on cloudy, dull days or for those early morning starts / late finishes
  • Category 2 (beige, polarised) lenses. A good all-rounder, useful in partial sunshine and fairly bright conditions. The polarised filter greatly reduces glare, which is caused by the sun’s rays bouncing off horizontal surfaces
  • Category 3 (green, mirror-coated). Perfect for sunny conditions, the green filter allows for greater definition between the course background / sky and ball. It will also help you judge the tee to flag distance
  • Sturdy carry case with belt clips and loops, a padded lining and internal compartments for spare lenses
  • Head / neck strap
  • Lint-free cleaning cloth
  • Information leaflet with information regarding prescription lenses

IS MY PRESCRIPTION SUITABLE?
Scratch Pro X prescription golf sunglasses can be used for any regular prescription where the SPH (Sphere) requirement is less or greater than 4.5. Due to the curvature of the tinted lenses, they will not be suitable for those with very strong prescription requirements that exceed 4.5.

Pro X Prescription sunglasses are also suitable for bi-focal, varifocal and prismatic lenses.

PUPILLARY DISTANCE (PD)
This is the distance, in millimetres, between the pupils of your eyes, when measured across the front of your glasses. The average PD for people in the western world is 62 - 63mm, however a PD can range from 55 up to 69mm - if your PD is not in the national average, we need to know about it. Unfortunately, most opticians do not put the PD on a standard prescription card - if you do not know your PD, ask your optician to let you know what it is. If they do not know, or are unwilling to release the information, you can measure it simply yourself, by asking a friend to hold a ruler up against your glasses whilst you are wearing them. Try to be accurate, but note that, if you are 1 - 2mm out on your calculation, your glasses should still be fine. NOTE: We have become aware that many opticians are reluctant to provide information on their customer's PD, usually because they do not like you going elsewhere to have eyewear made. Measuring your own PD is a simple process, and we would like to stress there is no need to pay an expensive fee to your optician for this information, should they request one. If you would like more information about your PD, please contact us - we will be glad to help.

SPARES SERVICE
We have a good stock of spares - if there is anything you need, please ask and we shall be happy to help.

WARRANTY
In addition to our normal 12-month warranty, we will be happy to work with you should you discover the prescription sunglasses as made are not working correctly. If we subsequently discover that we have not made the sunglasses correctly, we will be happy to rectify the problem free of charge. However, extra fees may be incurred if the optical work has been executed incorrectly due to our having received incorrect or insufficient information from the customer.

CLEANING SOLUTIONS: IMPORTANT WARNING
It has come to our attention that some opticians and their optical suppliers clean lenses and frames with alcohol-based solutions such as Solution 30, after adding a prescription to our Rx inserts. ALCOHOL BASED SOLUTIONS WILL DESTROY AN RX CLIP. We will not cover warranty on any Rx clips that have been cleaned with alcohol or other spirt-based solutions. A little soap-free handwash or similar will provide a perfect, clean finish to your lenses.

PURCHASING
UK customers making their purchase either online or by telephone can buy a complete prescription package, subject to any restrictions detailed above. Alternatively, you can purchase the frames only and take them to your own optician.
